Simply Monogrammed

For a mom to be who LOVES monogramming items, I was asked to create a simple cake for her baby shower. Her theme for the nursery is simple, white with a navy blue nautical theme. I used the bedding as inspiration with fondant strips and then hand carved the top monogram.
Congratulations!

Ahoy Matey!

This pirate cake was for a sweet little boy who I did his older brothers Star Wars cake a few months back. Thanks to mom I was able to get a hold of some of his pirate toys to use on the cake.

Happy Birthday Harrison!

Cat in the Hat

I can not believe it, 4 years have come and gone by so fast! My little man is turning 4!! We decided to have his birthday at the house with the help of a few outdoor water toys to keep us cool! And boy did we need it, it was a mean 99 degrees with a heat index of over 100. But surprisingly enough there was a slight breeze and I think we did farely well in shading the backyard along with a few water sprays and a large water slide, (Thank You Nanny and Papa!) we did well! Nicholas' theme this year was Dr. Seuss, Cat in the Hat. They love watching the cat on PBS. And this was a way cool party, I enjoyed making all our red and white desserts!
Check it out for yourself!

Here is the big sheet cake for everyone to enjoy....Thank You to Wendy Baiamonte with Sweet Ideas, The Cake Shoppe for this inspiration!
This was my attempt at creating a 3D Cat in the Hat cake...and it supposed to be leaning. Not bad...huh?My Push Cake Pops...red and white theme...New cookie recipe, LOVE my new Cat in the Hat cookie cutter!Funny story....our nick names for our two little ones have always been Thing 1 and Thing 2. Well when they caught on to that and paired it with the show they were all over it! Both Thing 1 and Thing 2 have blue hair. I LOVED this idea of taking blue cotton candy and putting it on the cupcakes! Well about an hour before the party, I put together the cupcakes with the "hair" and welll....the blue cotton candy melted, so all the cupcakes look like they had a blue sugary mess on top. Lesson learned, Cotton Candy and 99 degree heat....no good! The final food table!Happy Birthday Nicholas!!

Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a Spider can...

Another Marvel Comic inspired cake, this time Spiderman!
This was a special cake for our dear friends, Bart and Carrie,
their son turned 4 this past week.
Mr. Liam is a BIG fan of Spiderman these days,
so it was only fitting to make him his newest,
favorite cartoon character!
Spiderman was made with rice krispies and covered in fondant.
Happy Birthday Liam!

For a neighbor of ours, who was hosting a jewelry party this weekend for her niece's company, Stella and Dot I was asked to make a simple cake for her guests to enjoy.

Stella and Dot has boutique-style jewelry and accessories available exclusively through in-home Trunk Shows by Independent Stylists and online.

I took the company logo and added a few fondant jewelry pieces and there you have it!

Beautiful, simple and quite delicious too!

Rapunzel, let down your hair...

My family and I have throughly enjoyed this movie this summer.
Tangled, one of Disney's latest blockbuster hits, is about the classic story of Rapunzel.

Rapunzel, Disney's newest Princess, is very popular with young girls. One of those young girls is a sweet little girl, Lexie, who was in my son's preschool class this year. We were invited to her birthday party over the weekend and her mom asked me to create the Rapunzel tower cake for her and her guests to enjoy! It was a definite hit at the party!

Happy Birthday!

Something Fishy....Connor is turning One!

A few months back, I made my first 3D Thomas the Train cake for a little boy turning 4. His mom contacted me again to help make their other son's first birthday cake for this past weekend. She was going with a fish theme to the party so I took the colors and the look of the invitation and recreated it on their cake.
Happy Birthday Connor!

Cindy's Hope Chest and Barbells for Boobs

My husband and I have joined a gym close to home called CrossFit Indian Trail. It's definitely a different spin on your typical workout. You can check out more here. I've only recently join, and as reserved as I was, I'm slowly becoming a fan, yes, you heard me, I like it! I'm still timid to go, but once I'm there...I'm good. But that's beside the point...my point here is cake!

The owner Nate and his wife Jessica asked if I could help out with a fundraiser they were having this past weekend. They were raising money for Cindy's Hope Chest and Mammograms in Action

Cindy’s Hope Chest mission is to support women battling breast cancer emotionally and financially. Their goal is to provide ways to educate, support, and encourage women while undergoing treatments. Cindy and her team of volunteers enjoy making women as comfortable as possible during the treatment process necessary to fight breast cancer. Cindy remembers what it was like, she was has been there and understands the fears and uncertainties. Cindy's Hope Chest joined forces with CrossFit Indian Trail to help raise money and help Cindy with her mission.

CrossFit Indian Trail was also working with Mammograms in Action to raise money to pay for mammograms. Barbells for Boobs, as it was called, was the workout we participated in to raise money for women in our community. Everyone who signed up participated in two workouts with a partner, a little bit of running, a few pull ups, a few kettle bell swings and oh yeah...lifting those barbells! (By the way, it's not as easy as you might think!)

Members from different CrossFit gyms in the area came and supported in this cause and together we raised over $3,000!! There was a bake sale, car wash, garage sale, 50/50 raffle, silent auction and the workout! What a great day, great weather, great people to work out with and fun all around!

So, back to the cake....I donated cookies, a cake for the silent auction and a cake for us to enjoy later at the cook out.

Congratulations to Nate and CrossFit Indian Trail. We had a great day participating in all the events and are glad we can help!

Seashell theme Wedding

I was so happy to be able to make this beautiful wedding cake for a lovely couple, Marie and Tyler. Marie's mother was Olivia's preschool teacher this year. And I was thrilled to be able to make her daughters wedding cake.

Marie and her husband are moving to Florida where she currently works with dolphins. Which leads into how I created their rehearsal dinner cake. The mother of the groom called and asked for a personalize cake to show the bride and groom's interests.
Here you have the groom who use to play football for Butler High School, so the groom was in his football jersery with his number 64. He also likes to play golf and go fishing. The bride as you see is working with a dolphin.

Congratulations Marie and Tyler!

Ready, Set, Go....Happy Birthday!
