Birthday Blessings

Hello all! I had a very busy weekend this past weekend. I was asked by Amy Cervantes, founder of Birthday Blessings, to help provide refreshments for her Purchase for a Purpose event. This was a way to participate in a wonderful event as well as a way of getting some free advertisement for my cake business.

Birthday Blessings is a non-profit organization bringing birthday joy and support to homeless children and their families in Charlotte and surrounding areas. Of course I couldn't pass up an opportunity like this and I agreed. What an amazing organization. Birthday Blessings had their event at Joe Gibbs Racing facility in Huntersville and there were over 30 venders selling everything from toys, clothes, food and home decor. I met a lot of neat people and I was quite surprised at how many people came from the Matthews area as well as the Huntersville and Cornelius area.

In order to get ready I had to make several cakes, 5 to be exact. It took quite some time, but I enjoyed decorating and making each one. I also made some of my mini cupcake bites. For those of you who have tried these, I know they are a hit. So I gave several of these away as my mystery gift. So if you got one, let me know what you thought of it. I used my white almond sour cream cake this time and decorated them with a Valentine theme. I hope they were good! Here are some pictures of my cakes and my cupcake bites.

I had a blast and I hope others will remember me when they need a cake.

Baby Shower Cake

Hello again!  I had yet another stacked cake to do this past weekend.  A friend of a friend got in touch with me about making a baby shower cake based on a design she saw on the web.  She found this beautiful cake at Cake America
Here is my attempt at recreating the cake.
Here is another picture with the invitation she had picked out.
The cake was a 10 inch Chocolate cake with Raspberry filling, 8 inch White Almond Sour Cream cake with almond buttercream, topped with a 6 inch lemon cake and lemon buttercream. Accented with marshmallow fondant pieces.   More to do, I've got a big cake order to do this weekend for a charity/awareness event.  I'll post more details and pictures next week!
