Wheel of....Over the Hill!

This neat cake was for a friend who was celebrating a

co-workers Birthday today. We were looking for something Halloween and over the hill theme, but didn't want something morbid. So instead we went for a unique and movable spinner. As you can see Stu is 40

and he could be older than....You!

Happy Birthday Stu!

Big News!

I posted earlier about entering a Bake Off competition in my neighborhood. CallonWood's First Annual Chili and Bake Off contest. A great fall day to have a Fall festival filled with a costume parade for the kids, bouncy houses, games, balloons and face painting. But the best part was the food tasting. There were adults who competed in the chili contest and kids and adults who participated in the baked good part. There was a winner in each category, $100 for each adult winner and a skate party at Kate's Skate in Indian Trail for the child winner.

I decided to just enter the bake off part and entered a new cupcake I had tried out with the family back in March. I first discovered this recipe via one of the many blogs I follow, originally named as an Irish CarBomb Cupcake, but for the family event I renamed it Guinness Chocolate Cupcake. A rich chocolate cupcake with the added flavor of a Guinness beer, but the best part is the icing! I had two different flavor icings for the event, vanilla buttercream for the kids, and Bailey's Irish Cream/Irish Whisky in a Cream Cheese Icing for the adults. YUMMY, that's all I have say!

Well...here I am in front of my table, I went with a fall pumpkin theme to my decor.

And after 2 1/2 hours of tasing from my fellow neighbors and friends, and everyone voting, my entry WON!

I am CallonWoods Pastry Chef 2011!

I might just have to add these cupcakes to my menu! And I might have to rename them as my $100 cupcakes!! Congratulations to all the other winners and their delicious sweets and chili.

Happy 75th Birthday!

For a mom who is celebrating 75 years young!

Happy Birthday Rachel!

I'm super excited about my fantasy flowers I did on this cake. I got the idea from a craft blog that I follow who does crafts and such with felt. All the petals are done with a round cutter, I used a big icing tip and the folded each "petal" in with a little bit of water and let them dry before sticking them in a center of buttercream! Can't wait to try this out with a bigger cutter for a bigger cake.

A Fall Wedding full of Cupcakes!

This beautiful arrangement was for a neighbor of ours. I actually created her sisters wedding cake last year in October. This time I was asked to create a cupcake bouquet.

The vase was filled with artificial flowers and the bouquet had other similar flowers to fill in the spaces.

Then I created five of these for center pieces.

These were my cupcake bites dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with little leaf sprinkles

and arranged in a small terra cotta pot.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Harnach!

Happy Birthday - Princess Style

For a little girl who was having a Princess theme party.

This was my first attempt at this type of crown and I like how it turned out. And the gold "paint" was really gold looking in person, can't quite tell from the picture, but it's super shiny! Gold powder I got from Nicholas lodge at Convention mixed with orange oil and WOW!

Happy Birthday Cielo!

What a Bee-utiful Baby!

For a friend who is having a little boy in a few weeks some of her girfriends and I hosted a baby shower. Not your typical baby shower, instead we went to a nail salon and had pedicures and manicures done! LOVED it, not only were we pampered, but we got to enjoy time together. Kristen and I go way back from high school with our friend Lauren and youth group at our church. Kristen and her husband Greg are expecting their first baby, due October 26. The theme to the baby's room is bumblebee so I took the bedding and some of the fabric designs for this cake.

Over The Hill...on a bike...

For a young man who was celebrating his 40th birthday this weekend, his wife wanted a birthday cake that represented what he LOVES to do - mountain biking.

Now if you look closely, where is the bike? Well, his wife had a small bicycle ornament that she wanted to be placed on the top of the hill. So imagine a red mountain bike on top of the oreo crumb road.

Happy Birthday Todd!

Going with the Sesame Street theme this weekend I created a beautiful two tiered present cake adorned with my handmade fondant characters -

Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Elmo and The Count!

What's missing in the picture was the little cape that I added to the count after I took the picture. Turned out cute too!

Thank Heaven for Little Boys!
