Monogrammed & Chevron pattern...

This lucky cake gets to be added to my favorite list
of cakes I've done so far!
This was for a friend who was hosting a
bridal shower for her soon to be sister in law.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the chevron pattern
on the side of this cake.
I do have to give credit to Jessica Harris
with her technique of applying the stripes on the cake.

Jessica has her own blog at www.jessicakesblog.blogspot.com
I first discovered her a few months back.
Then she put up a Craftsy class on the amazing
www.craftsy.com page with this exact cake that I had just been asked to create!

So I have to thank her for her creative, quick and easy class that helped create this amazing cake!

Oh and Congratulations to the new soon to be
Mrs. Danielle DeGorter
for whom this cake was made for!

Mario!

My niece turned 5 years old at the beginning of February.
And her FAVORITE thing to do now is play
Super Mario Brothers on her DS.
So of course the theme to her birthday
was a Wii Super Mario theme party.
I was asked to make chocolate Mario mustache lollipops
and Wii remotes as favors.
The remotes were made from rice krispie treats
covered in white chocolate, YUM!

Here are my two little munchkins
holding up their lollipops, sorry, mustaches!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are we most thankful for?
I know I am thankful for my family and all the support and love they give me each and everyday!

Here are two sweet cakes I made for families to share this Thanksgiving holiday with their loved ones.
A little different from the traditional Pumpkin Pie,
but just as yummy!
This was made with modeling chocolate!  YUM!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thankful to our teachers!

To show the amazing teachers at my son's preschool
how thankful we are of them,
one of the moms organized a holiday gathering
of sweets for the staff.

Parents brought in yummy goodies and the teachers picked a number that coresponded to a treat
that they got to take home for the holiday weekend to share with their family.

I brought in yummy pumpkin pie spiced sugar cookies iced with pumpkin pie royal icing.
pumpkins, turkeys, acorns, leaves
and they were YUMMY!

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
My husbands gym was hosting an event
to help a local non profit organization
called Cindy's Hope Chest.
Cindy is a survivor and now she reaches out
to women in our community who are in need of help.
Cindy helps with taking women to their appointments, providing meals, clothes, light housework, and most of all a shoulder to lean on during this difficult time.
I made a very large cake for the event and the gym was able to raise $1200 to help out Cindy and her organization.

1980's!

Who didn't love the 80's?  Big hair, great music, awesome clothes....oh wait....some of us may want to forget some of that!  Well, to say the least this special cake was for a friend who asked me to help with her non profit organization to help raise awarenessa and money for the North Carolina Hemophilia Chapter.

Her and her daughter have been diagnosed with a blood disorder and have been involved with this orgnaization every since their diaganosis. Hemophilia is a rare hereditary (inherited) bleeding disorder in which blood cannot clot normally at the site of a wound or injury.

She was hosting her 2nd annual fundraising event and wanted a cake, but not any kind of cake, a 80's theme cake to go along with the party theme!

So you can't go wrong with a boombox and Michael Jackson's Thriller being a big hit of the 8o's
Who didn't make a mix tape back then?
Rocking out with cool glasses and of course a classic Arcade game...
PacMan!

A Pirate Party!

I can not believe it, but my baby boy is 5 years old!
What just happened?
A minute ago he was just a little baby so cute and now he's 5!  I know all parents say that as each year passes,
but he's the baby and such a momma's boy!
Well, this year we went with a Pirate theme...
and oh what fun we, I mean I, had with this!
Here is the cake, a 3D pirate theme cake
I LOVE how these turned out, so cute!!
The food table, we had cannon balls (cheese puffs), catch of the day (goldfish) pirate cookies, sword fruit (fruit on a sword toothpick) pirate punch (lemonade)

Beach Ball/Sewing theme party

What a unique combination, but for this party, this special girl she was having her party at a place called Sew Fun, where you an create and learn how to sew with your friends.
Here are sewing theme inspired cupcakes!
Then afterwards the birthday girl and her friends were coming home to celebrate and cool off in the pool!  So for favors we went with a beach ball theme cake pop!  My first at something like this, but I LOVE how they came out!
